Sunrise on Corpus Christi Bay

Every few years the planets align just right and my wife and I are able to travel together for a few days. Last year we went to Corpus Christi, Texas for Memorial Day weekend. This is a great vacation destination.

Just across the causeway from downtown is an area known as North Shore. In addition to the fine beach you will find a variety of attractions to enjoy. On a previous visit we spent the day at the Texas State Aquarium there so we skipped it this trip.

We did take in the U.S.S. Lexington and World of Discovery, the fine museum in Corpus. We hope you enjoy our photo spread below and have a chance to visit there yourself.

We were very fortunate to have a 4th floor room here at the Sandy Shores Ramada overlooking the U.S.S. Lexington where we took this photo from.

Although we are only featuring two of the more prominent sight-seeing destinations, there are a variety of things to see including botanical gardens, boat tours of the bay, nearby coastal islands and wildlife preserves.

Downtown Corpus Christi, Texas

Playing a key role for the Navy during WWII U.S.S. Lexington continued to serve America for 50 years. After being decommissioned, she arrived in Corpus Christi where she welcomes individuals and tour groups. A scout group spent the night aboard ship and enjoyed a special Memorial Day Honor Guard presentation in the morning. Have a look at "The Blue Ghost".

Our second photo feature from Corpus is World of Discovery. This is a delightful museum covering a broad range of topics and featuring special hands on exhibits for children.
